Big Brother Tim and Little Brother AJ

Tim and AJ were matched in April 2013, and a common love of sports bonded the pair quickly. AJ’s mom, Crystal, a social worker and single mom of two, wanted a positive male role model for her son.

Over the years, Tim has taken AJ to various sporting events and attended games and practices that Crystal could not. Big Brother Tim fostered AJ’s curiosity for sports by helping develop the appropriate skill sets.

Crystal and Tim have worked as a team to ensure AJ can live up to his full potential. Living in an underachieving school district in Chester County, Crystal always wanted a better academic option for her son. Tim researched and supported AJ through a yearlong process of applying to a very competitive private high school.

Eventually their efforts paid off. While at a recent Reading Phillies game, the family received wonderful news: AJ was accepted into the school and on scholarship.

Thanks to Tim, AJ has developed a keen appreciation for the outdoors, and they love to go geocaching (outdoor recreational activity, in which participants use a Global Positioning System (GPS) mobile device to hide and/or seek items at specific locations). When it came time for Tim to propose to his girlfriend, he asked AJ to help find the perfect geocaching spot to hide the engagement ring.

After surprising his now-fiancé with the geocached ring, Tim surprised AJ, by asking him to be a junior groomsman in the wedding.
